Blessing of healing hands

Celebrating the care and healing which happens in our hospital is what National Hospital Week is all about.

As we care for the whole person -- body, mind and spirit -- it is evident that every employee at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford, no matter what their job function, impacts the high quality of care we provide. The healing hands and caring hearts of every employee is celebrated this week as chaplains bless the hands of employees throughout the hospital.

The Blessing of the Hands is an annual ritual which affirms the work of each Texas Health HEB team member acknowledging the sacred work they do every day. This blessing is ecumenical in nature and provided for all employees who find this symbolic ritual meaningful. Chaplains visiting units on every shift have blessed the hands of hundreds of employees this week. Chaplains provided a copy of the prayer for employees to be reminded throughout the year how much their daily work contributes to touching the whole experience of those receiving care in our hospital.

The blessing says “May the work of your hands be a blessing to you and all those around you; May the God who formed these hands use them to bring grace and life to this Community; God bless these hands to be instruments of your care and healing.”

For employees who missed the chaplain on their unit, Blessing of the Hands will be available in the chapel on Friday, May 14th between 11 am and 2 pm. or can be given at any time by request.
