Is your resolution waning?

Did you start off the year with the best of intentions? A week later, how’s it going?

If you’re like me, some of your resolutions may be easily clicking while others are a little slower to get off the ground. Employees at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford are working hard to offer resources to help people in our community improve their health. So, I thought I’d share some resources and upcoming events that might just provide some added spark to the accomplishing your 2010 goals.

Getting organized: Have your plans for a completely up-to-date organizing system not yet materialized? Check out TexasHealth.org where you can request a free calendar. The calendar, which is stylish and a handy purse-size, even offers health tips and screening information. That’s what I call doing double duty on the health and organization resolution.

Getting fit: Finding it hard to get to the gym? Texas Health Fitness Center HEB is getting ready to launch Weight No More. Check back to the blog on Monday for more details on the challenge. But in the meantime, visit TexasHealth.org/hebfitness if you want to get a jumpstart on it.

Being healthier: Personally, I know it’s hard to even know where to begin. Texas Health HEB is offering a program called “A New Year, A New You?” where physicians on the medical staff and employees will offer tips on how to improve your health and well-being – body, mind and spirit. For more information on the free luncheon, visit TexasHealth.org/Classes.

Good luck and please share your successes and struggles to get healthier. And please let me know if you use any of the resources above. I’d welcome blog contributions along your journey. In addition, we’re interested in hearing what other types of resources might be helpful so please feel free to share any suggestions.

Happy 2010!

Jennifer Erickson
