Employees at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford today got a new look – color-coordinated scrubs. The change isn’t just a fashion choice, but rather is designed to help patients and their families more easily identify caregivers.
Each department voted on what color to select. If you’re visiting a loved one or are a patient yourself at Texas Health HEB, here is a quick cheat sheet on what color each discipline is wearing.
• Royal Blue – Registered nurses
• Steel Gray – Patient care technicians and unit secretaries
• Navy Blue – Radiology
• Black – Laboratory
• Chocolate Brown – Respiratory therapists
• Grape Purple – EKG technicians
• Hunter Green – Physical, occupational and speech therapists
• Khaki – Pharmacy
• Burgundy – Remains the color of hospital provided/laundered
“Many times it can be confusing when employees in various roles are visiting patients and their families,” said Lee Mulvey, director of human resources at Texas Health HEB. “It can be hard to keep track of who is the nurse and who is the patient care technician. This may seem like a small change, but it’s one that we know will have a big impact in taking some of the stress out of being in the hospital.”
