Lighting the night for heart health

No, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you when you drive past Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford this week. The red heart you see showcased on the side of the hospital until Sunday is a symbol for heart health. Located alongside Highway 183 in Bedford, near the Highway 121 split, the heart will be clearly visible from both highways. Hospital employees hope to raise awareness of the risks of coronary heart disease.

Coronary heart disease is the No. 1 killer in the United States.

The Cardiac Rehab team at Texas Health HEB is raising awareness of risk factors for heart attacks and heart disease by broadcasting a red heart on the side of the hospital during the week of the American Heart Association's Wear Red Day Feb. 5.

When experiencing a heart attack, time is muscle so it is important to get to the nearest hospital when a heart attack is suspected.

Check back Friday for more photos on how Texas Health HEB is raising awareness for heart health as employees are encouraged to Wear Red to support the cause.
