Patricia Fjordback, R.N., is one of those people that truly dives wholeheartedly into whatever she does.
The Grapevine resident has been named to the annual list of the Metroplex’s Great 100 Nurses, which is sponsored by the Texas Nurses Association and the North Texas Organization of Nurse Executives. The awards honor registered nurses in the D/FW area who exemplify excellence in the art and science of nursing. Nurses are nominated by their peers, and may only be named to the list once in their career.
Fjordbak recalls what drew her into nursing.
“I always enjoyed taking care of people and knew at an early age that I wanted to pursue the medical profession,” she said. “Nursing allows me to pursue my passion. Creating trusting relationships with patients at their time of need is so rewarding and satisfying.”
Fjordbak currently serves in the G.I. lab at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford. Her coworkers and hospital leaders agree that Fjordbak has found her niche and appreciate the leadership qualities she has shown.
“The Great 100 Nurses are the best of the best,” said Deborah Paganelli, FACHE, hospital president. “Our nurses set a high standard for each other, an example of excellence that is made up of hard work and dedication for every patient, every day. I am proud that their work was recognized among the best in our region.”
Fjordbak has lead research to help improve hospital policies and procedures. She has developed several tools, one of which helps other nurses to use to ensure patients are discharged with the appropriate information. Fjordbak is pursuing her BSN at the University of Texas at Arlington.
“With outstanding communication skills, she always demonstrates a remarkably positive outlook, behavior and attitude toward everyone at every encounter,” one nominator wrote. “She inspires everyone she touches to be a better person.”
